It was with great sadness that I took my last sip of this exuberant zinfandel.
In speaking with winemaker Randy Pitts, he mentioned a belief in something special about Harvest Moon's particular piece of the Russian River Valley, and if this bottle is any indication, Randy's right on the money. This wine kicks ass - truly excellent!
It engages the senses with ripe, bursting fruit and aromas of fresh cut pine lumber, fresh loam and a hint of tire store up front, with lingering complexity to follow. Its body is strong and supple, rather than meaty and thick. This is a zin with subtlety and real character to back up its vibrant fruit.
I only wish I had another bottle or ten...
