Wine can be intimidating, exclusive, elitist, etc, but it's also consumed by everyone from goat herders to royalty. WineSlob.org is about enjoying wine without any of the pretense and snobbery that sometimes goes along with it.
Wine is pretty amazing stuff. It's so simple really, mashed up fermented grapes (or other fruit), but no two wines are alike and each can be incredibly complex.
I've always been a beer drinker, but over the last couple years I've tried to learn something about wine. I've tried a wider variety than ever before, kept notes, read books, got drunk, laughed with friends, had great food and really, really started to love wine.
As part of this process I've consumed copious amounts of wine, from local Oregon pinot noirs to exotic Australian marsannes to the backyard white my wife and I made this last year. I still enjoy my beer. What native Pacific North westerner doesn't? But wine is a far more exciting drink to me. Each glass is an adventure.
This site is an effort to share some of that experience. I'm no expert, just a guy that likes wine. I hope some of what I have to say adds to your enjoyment as well.
Cheers!
